You are going to hear a lot this year about the pre-reading skills your child is learning in kindergarten. A lot of parents ask what they can do to help their child learn to read, and more importantly, learn to love to read.
On the left sidebar of this blog, we will keep up to date the sounds that we are working on at school, and encourage you to continue working with your child at home. We will also list books that we highly recommend. Check them out and let us know what you think! In kindergarten, if it is a book we've read before, we call it an old favorite, and we love to return to them again and again.
Along with this, one of the best things you can do is to read to your child everyday for at least fifteen minutes. Research shows that kids who are read to learn how to read. This is a great opportunity as well for your child to spend quality time with older siblings, cousins, grandparents or any family member or good friend.
the blog is a great idea!
