Signs of Winter

Winter is here.  Or, at least the signs of it.  And even though it is blizzarding all around, Kindergarten says grab a good book and a warm blanket, and let it snow!

Character Ed

Today we had an assembly celebrating one of the virtues of character Ed, our school character education mascot:  Ed the pig.  Character Ed has taught us about Respect, Integrity and now Empathy.

Let's remember that we're all in this together.

A Green Attitude

In Celebration of finishing our Environmental Unit, we created tye-dye shirts, and talked about everything we've done to increase our 'green' attitude.

Remember the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and keep this earth a safe and healthy place for every living thing, and for future generations!

It's a Jungle in Here!

For our Environment Theme Unit, we talked a lot about rainforest animals.  We decided to decorate our classroom to look like a tropical rainforest.

And in our rainforest, there are giant spiders, snakes, jaguars, butterflies, geckos and other wonderful, beautiful creatures, playing among the vines.

Isn't this world a wonderful place?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We've been enjoying our thematic unit on environment.  We've been working hard to learn how to follow the three R's:

We know that we have to do our part to help make this world a better place.  We can choose to be wasteful, or we can choose to be green.

We want a clean and beautiful earth to grow up on.  We want to do our part to have a green attitude.  Please help us, by first setting a good example.

Owls

Earlier this month the kindergarten students were invited to a preschool presentation on owls.  We had the opportunity to learn more about these fascinating birds thanks to a very engaging wildlife biologist.

We saw different models of owls, including this great horned owl.

We learned about their feeding habits, how they hunt, and where they live.
We also got to hear the different calls that these four species make.

We'd like to say thank you to all involved for this experience!

Bird Seed Numbers

In Kindergarten this month we have been working hard on recognizing numbers one through five using recyclable materials.
